Participants will learn the step-by-step process of handcrafting their own unique end grain cutting board from a mix of hardwood species.

Throughout the workshop you will learn how to use several key tools in the woodshop:

• Milling rough lumber using the Jointer, Planer and Table saw
• Gluing wood strips together using Clamps
• Setting up and using the cross-cut sled on the Table saw
• Getting creative with wood design and wood grain
• Using the Flatmaster and Palm Sanders
• Using the Router Table
• Finishing the boards with Food Grade Mineral Oil

Mark Kulmala was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and moved to London in 2008. He always had a passion for creative endeavors and puzzles, and woodworking offers ample opportunity for both. He was drawn to cutting boards thanks to his passion for cooking. Aside from being an avid woodworker, Mark is a touring folk musician who goes by the stage name of My Father’s Son.
