Sharpening Masterclass

Sharp tools are essential to woodworking.

The act of sharpening is not only fundamental to the quality of one’s work, but a sharp tool is also a safer tool.

In this masterclass we will explore the process of sharpening bench chisels as well as plane irons. The class will move through the process of using a bench grinder to produce a hollow grind followed by honing on a stone. We will discuss the pros and cons of the various sharpening stones on the market and their upkeep as well as the impact of tool quality on the sharpening process.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own chisels and planes to sharpen
